Why i volunteer

I volunteered because I fell in love with Inle Lake the minute I arrived after trekking for 3 days from Kalaw.

The hostel and its unusual outside feature were recommended by lots of people whilst travelling through Myanmar. As soon as I entered the hostel I soon realised that the sweetest women I had ever met were working behind the front desk. I was drunk on their charm and I was asked if I wanted to work there. A day of humming and hawing I realised that working at Song of Travel would be a great experience and that's exactly what it was.

I made loads of new friends, both locals and backpackers, planned fun nights for the hostel and got to learn so much more about that incredible country from Fiona, Anastasia, Erica and all the other wonderful staff that worked there. It was actually the best job I ever had and I don't know why I gave it up to come back to Scotland.
